Oklahoma – The National Weather Service has issued a warning for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across much of eastern Oklahoma, starting Friday night and continuing through Tuesday. Residents can expect rainfall amounts between 3 to 8 inches, with some areas facing a high risk of flooding, particularly from Sunday night through Monday. This rainfall, combined with thunderstorms, is likely to create hazardous conditions on major roadways, including I-44 and I-35.

According to the National Weather Service Tulsa office, the heaviest downpours are anticipated late Sunday into Monday, with a 90% chance of thunderstorms potentially bringing strong winds and flash floods. Officials urge residents to prepare for possible road closures and to monitor local weather updates for emergency alerts. The combination of saturated grounds and continued rain raises the likelihood of flash floods, particularly in low-lying areas.

On Friday, conditions will be sunny with a high near 72°F, providing a brief respite before clouds and storms develop overnight. Showers and thunderstorms will likely start after 1 a.m. on Saturday, bringing an 80% chance of rain throughout the day. The storms will intensify overnight into Sunday, with some severe storms forecasted that may produce excessive rainfall and dangerous driving conditions.

The storm system is expected to linger through Monday, with a 90% chance of thunderstorms and additional rainfall. As a precaution, residents should avoid driving through flooded areas and ensure they have emergency supplies on hand. The weather should start to clear by Tuesday, though additional rain may still be possible with a lesser chance of precipitation.
