Marquette, MI — As Upper Michigan residents start the week, they can expect a rollercoaster of weather, including record-breaking warmth, thunderstorms, and potential snowfall. High temperatures on Tuesday are predicted to reach between 63 and 75 degrees, bringing the possibility of setting new daily records for late October. Rainfall and gusty thunderstorms are anticipated to impact the area on Wednesday, with some locations forecasted to receive up to 1.5 inches.
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, Michigan, gusty showers and lightning are expected to sweep through the eastern Upper Peninsula in the morning, although most of the region will stay dry through the rest of Tuesday. On Wednesday, however, the chance of thunderstorms increases significantly, with anticipated rainfall that could disrupt travel and daily activities across areas like Keweenaw and the southeastern Upper Peninsula.
For Halloween on Thursday, temperatures are set to plummet, with highs only reaching 44 to 54 degrees and lows dropping as far as 32 degrees in the western half of the region. Breezy conditions, along with lake-effect showers, could lead to the first snowfall in some areas by Thursday night, making for a chilly holiday for trick-or-treaters.
The week will close out with continued unsettled weather as lake-effect showers linger through Friday. Residents should stay updated on weather conditions, especially if they have outdoor plans or are traveling along local roads, as rain, wind, and potentially icy conditions could create hazardous situations.
