Albany, NY – Rain showers are set to move into Upstate New York tonight, bringing wet conditions to roads, especially along I-90. Drivers should prepare for reduced visibility and potentially slick surfaces as showers intensify early this evening. Commuters are advised to slow down and allow extra travel time along highways, especially north of I-90, where rainfall is expected to be heaviest.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will likely begin by 7 p.m. and continue until around 9 p.m., with rainfall amounts expected to be light, generally less than a quarter inch. The heaviest rain is predicted north of Albany, with areas like Watertown and Syracuse experiencing moderate showers. Temperatures will hover around 51 degrees tonight, accompanied by south winds between 6 to 8 mph, which could create additional travel hazards.

After tonight’s showers, Wednesday will bring a pleasant change, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 75 degrees. Wednesday night will stay mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to 51 degrees. Looking ahead, Thursday promises more sun and an unseasonably warm high of 79 degrees. By Thursday night, light rain may return, with showers predicted mainly after 2 a.m.

The rain will pick up again Friday morning, with a 60% chance of showers and a high near 67 degrees. Dry weather is expected Friday night, followed by a cooler weekend, with highs around 54 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.
