Buffalo, NY — Western New Yorkers should brace for scattered showers and gusty winds today as cooler weather settles into the region. Highs are expected to range between 50 and 55 degrees, and rain is likely to intensify in the afternoon, potentially impacting travel across main routes like Interstate 90.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, today’s conditions include a mix of sun and clouds with widespread showers developing by afternoon and evening. Northwest winds may reach speeds of up to 15 mph, with gusts hitting 30 mph, especially in open areas and near the lakefront. Drivers should be cautious as wet roads and gusty conditions could reduce visibility and make travel challenging.

Sunday will bring a reprieve, with mostly sunny skies and a high around 54 degrees. Winds will shift slightly to the west, maintaining a lighter speed of 5 to 10 mph. This mild trend will continue into Monday, with a forecasted high of 59 degrees and southeast winds that remain gentle.

Looking ahead, however, rain chances return on Tuesday, with a 30% likelihood of showers in the afternoon as temperatures climb near 70 degrees, marking a brief warm-up. By Wednesday, conditions turn breezy and partly sunny, with highs reaching around 68 degrees, though rain may intensify again by Thursday with an 80% chance of showers.
