Marquette, MI — Michigan’s Upper Peninsula will experience unseasonably warm temperatures today and Tuesday, with highs reaching the 70s across most of the region. However, a cold front will sweep through the area Tuesday night, bringing a dramatic temperature drop and rain showers.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), highs today will range from the low 70s to upper 70s, with interior areas reaching close to 79 degrees—about 20-25 degrees above normal for late October. A slight chance of showers exists this afternoon across the Keweenaw Peninsula. Conditions will remain dry elsewhere, allowing for pleasant fall weather through Tuesday. However, residents should continue adhering to burn restrictions issued by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR), as drought conditions persist.
A cold front will move in Tuesday night, bringing widespread showers and a noticeable dip in temperatures. Wednesday’s highs will struggle to reach the low 50s, with lake-effect rain showers and blustery northwest winds expected. Temperatures will remain in the 40s throughout the day, a stark contrast to the early-week warmth. Residents should prepare for much cooler conditions and stay informed on any updated burn restrictions from local authorities.
