Pittsburgh, PA – A frost advisory has been issued for western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia as temperatures are expected to drop into the low 30s overnight. Residents are urged to take precautions to protect outdoor plants from potential damage.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Pittsburgh, temperatures in some areas could fall between 32 and 35 degrees Fahrenheit. The advisory will remain in effect from 2 a.m. until 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Frost formation is likely, which could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation.

The NWS recommends covering tender plants or moving them indoors to avoid the risk of frost damage. Sensitive plants left uncovered may not survive the cold. The affected areas include Mercer, Butler, Kittanning, and other regions in western Pennsylvania, as well as parts of northern West Virginia.
