Huntsville, AL – Residents of Huntsville should brace for a significant temperature shift early next week as a cold front is set to move through the area, pushing temperatures down sharply. By Tuesday night, lows are forecasted to drop into the mid-30s, a stark contrast to the warm, dry conditions expected over the weekend.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Huntsville, high temperatures will peak in the 80s through Sunday, with a surge to near 89°F anticipated. However, the cold front will arrive Sunday night, bringing a much cooler air mass that will linger into midweek. The weather shift will be most pronounced along major roadways like I-565 and I-65, where travelers should be prepared for brisk, chilly conditions by Tuesday.

The temperature drop will also bring gusty winds, particularly on Sunday and Monday. The winds, reaching up to 20 mph, could affect outdoor activities. Residents planning to be out this weekend should secure loose items and avoid travel during the strongest winds. Monday will be noticeably cooler, with highs struggling to reach 71°F, and temperatures continuing to dip as the week progresses.

As Huntsville heads into midweek, daytime highs will hover between 63°F and 68°F, while overnight lows will reach the lower 40s on Monday and the mid-30s by Tuesday night. These lower temperatures could result in frost, especially in areas outside the city. Those with sensitive plants are advised to take precautionary steps to prevent frost damage.

The cooldown is expected to persist, with Wednesday seeing highs between 60°F and 65°F. The National Weather Service recommends residents dress in layers and monitor local forecasts for updated weather information.
