Detroit, MI – Southeastern Michigan will be under a Fire Weather Watch from Friday morning through Friday evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Detroit/Pontiac has issued this alert due to dry conditions and gusty winds.

The NWS reports that winds will blow from the southwest at 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph. Humidity levels could fall as low as 35%, and temperatures are expected to reach the upper 70s, creating ideal conditions for wildfires.

Burn restrictions are expected to be enforced during this period. Residents are encouraged to visit the Michigan Department of Natural Resources website or call their burn permit hotline for more details.

As fire risks increase, officials urge people to avoid outdoor burning and exercise caution with open flames. The NWS will provide updates, and a Red Flag Warning could be issued if conditions worsen further.
