Amarillo, TX – The Texas Panhandle is bracing for extreme heat as temperatures are forecasted to remain in the triple digits through the weekend and into next week. The National Weather Service has issued warnings for excessive heat, with temperatures expected to peak at over 100 degrees across much of the region.

Today, Saturday, temperatures in Amarillo are expected to reach 100 degrees, marking the ninth consecutive day of such high temperatures. If this trend continues, Amarillo could break its previous record for consecutive days over 100 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, the high heat is projected to persist into Monday, with a forecasted high of 94 degrees. Although slightly cooler, these temperatures still pose significant risks for heat-related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable populations.

Sunday’s forecast shows a slight decrease, with temperatures expected to reach 97 degrees. However, the heat will remain intense, and residents are advised to continue taking precautions, including staying hydrated and avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours.

The extreme heat conditions are not expected to subside significantly until midweek, with Tuesday bringing some relief as temperatures are expected to dip to 90 degrees. By Wednesday, highs may hover around 91 degrees, providing a slight respite from the heat wave.
