Lincoln, IL – Central Illinois residents should prepare for potentially severe weather Thursday night as scattered thunderstorms are expected between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m., carrying a risk of damaging wind gusts, localized hail, and heavy rain. While the probability of tornadoes is low, it remains a possibility, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Lincoln.

The NWS issued a severe weather outlook indicating that much of Illinois could experience these storms, particularly areas west of I-57. The storms are likely to bring winds strong enough to cause damage, and urban areas may face flooding due to heavy rain.

The severe weather threat extends into Friday, with the possibility of isolated damaging wind gusts or hail in the afternoon. The tornado threat will remain low but not ruled out. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather conditions and take precautions, especially during the overnight hours when the most severe weather is expected to occur.
