Lake County, IN – Starting Monday, August 12, motorists traveling on I-65 through Lake, Newton, and Jasper counties will encounter overnight lane closures due to a major pavement restoration project. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced that the work will focus on the section of I-65 between State Road 14 and U.S. 231, covering mile markers 223 to 246.
According to INDOT, the lane closures will occur nightly from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning, allowing crews to resurface the roadway. During this time, only a few miles of the interstate will be closed in one direction at a time. The project aims to enhance the driving experience and improve safety along this stretch of I-65.
Work is expected to continue until June 2025. Drivers should remain alert for changing traffic patterns and the presence of road crews as the project progresses. INDOT advises motorists to plan for potential delays and consider alternative routes during the overnight hours to avoid congestion. Regular updates will be provided to ensure that the public stays informed about ongoing work zones and traffic adjustments.
