Flagstaff, AZ – Arizona is set to experience an active monsoonal pattern, bringing scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Temperatures will remain near average, with light southwest afternoon winds outside of any gusty outflow winds from the storms.

According to the US National Weather Service in Flagstaff, heavy rainfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour and relatively slow storm motions from the east-northeast could lead to flash flooding in stronger storms. Residents are advised to be cautious as not every thunderstorm will lead to flash flooding, but the potential remains high.

Today’s storms are expected between noon and 10 PM MST, with threats including lightning, small hail, strong outflow gusts of 40-50 mph, and brief periods of heavy rainfall. Storms will move to the west-southwest at 5-15 mph, increasing the risk of flash flooding.

The extended forecast for Flagstaff shows temperatures remaining steady, with highs around 80°F and lows in the upper 50s. Friday will see partly cloudy skies and a high of 78°F, while Saturday and Sunday will be slightly warmer with highs of 81°F and 80°F, respectively. The trend of mild temperatures and partly cloudy conditions will continue into next week.
