Carmel, IN – Officers patrolling near 96th Street and Priority Way on Wednesday encountered a vehicle with an improper license plate. During the traffic stop, officers detected the odor of marijuana emanating from inside the car.
According to the Carmel Police Department, the scent of marijuana led to the discovery of 647 grams of marijuana, a scale, 41 Oxycodone pills, $1,510 in cash, and a handgun with an extended magazine. The driver, an adult male, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, dealing in marijuana, and dealing in a controlled substance.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office will decide on the final charges. The Carmel Police Department commended the officers for their diligent work in removing significant quantities of drugs and a firearm from the streets.
