Salt Lake City, UT – An intense heatwave is set to hit Utah this weekend, prompting warnings from the National Weather Service (NWS). The forecast indicates that temperatures will soar up to 111°F in lower Washington County and Zion National Park on Saturday and Sunday. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
According to the NWS, the heatwave will bring very high temperatures with limited overnight relief. Nighttime lows are expected to remain in the low 80s, exacerbating the risk of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. The NWS recommends that outdoor activities be shifted to early morning before 10 a.m. or late afternoon after 4 p.m. to avoid the peak heat.
Over the next few days, Salt Lake City will experience scorching temperatures, with highs consistently near 98°F and overnight lows around 70-74°F. Today and Thursday, temperatures will reach a high of 98°F with clear skies. Friday will see slightly cooler temperatures, with highs around 96°F. The weekend will continue the trend with highs reaching 98°F on both Saturday and Sunday. The heat will persist into Monday with temperatures peaking at 97°F.
