Central Illinois – Severe thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night across central and southeast Illinois as Post-Tropical Depression Beryl moves through the region. The primary threats include damaging winds up to 60 mph and isolated tornadoes, primarily south of I-70. Heavy rain could also result in flooding.

According to the US National Weather Service Central Illinois, the severe weather threat will extend north, impacting communities beyond the initial forecast area. Residents are urged to stay weather aware, ready to take shelter indoors when storms approach, and have multiple ways to receive warnings.

In addition to the severe weather threat on Tuesday, occasional showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will range from the mid-70s to the mid-80s, slightly above normal levels. The chance of thunderstorms is highest west of I-57, with heavy rain possible on Tuesday and into Wednesday morning.

The weather pattern will bring breezy conditions with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and lows in the mid-60s to low 70s. The forecast indicates a slight chance of thunderstorms on Thursday and a mostly sunny day on Friday.
