
Deerfield, IL – Deerfield residents are being urged to lock their cars amid a recent wave of vehicle thefts and burglaries that occurred between June 6 and 16.
According to the Deerfield Police Department, six vehicles were stolen, and over a dozen vehicles were burglarized during this period. All the stolen vehicles had been left unlocked with keys inside. The crimes took place overnight, and surveillance cameras captured suspects pulling on the door handles of parked vehicles. Nearby communities have also experienced similar incidents.
Deerfield Police are increasing their overnight patrols to deter further criminal activity and are encouraging residents to take precautions to secure their vehicles. Authorities recommend removing valuables from cars or placing them in the trunk, locking vehicles regardless of the parking duration, taking keys with them, keeping garage doors closed, and reporting any suspicious behavior to police.
