Indiana Tragedy: 9-Year-Old Boy Dies in Benton County UTV Accident

Benton County, IN – A 9-year-old boy lost his life in a tragic UTV rollover accident on private property in Benton County on Friday afternoon. The accident occurred around 3:52 p.m. in the 6000 block of 1100 E, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.

The Benton County Dispatch Center received a call reporting that two juvenile males were involved in a UTV rollover, with one trapped underneath the vehicle. First responders arrived on the scene to find the 9-year-old unresponsive after being pulled from beneath the UTV. Despite immediate CPR efforts, the child was pronounced dead at the scene. His 11-year-old brother, who also was involved in the incident, sustained minor injuries.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Benton County Coroner’s Office are conducting an investigation into the accident. Sheriff John Cox confirmed that next of kin have been notified. All units cleared the scene by 5:30 p.m. 

The community is urged to keep the family in their thoughts during this difficult time. The case remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the cause of the accident.
