Valparaiso, IN – Investigation Continues into Fatal Shooting on Locust Street

Valparaiso, IN – Valparaiso Police are diligently pursuing leads in the case of multiple gunshots fired in the 350 block of Locust Street on March 8, 2024, around 3:50 pm, which tragically ended the life of 29-year-old Jessica Kouba of Valparaiso. In connection with the incident, Anthony Lee, 25, from Merrillville, was found at the scene and has been detained. 

Although Lee was subsequently jailed on unrelated charges, including possession of marijuana and a Porter County arrest warrant, the investigation into the shooting is far from over. Authorities underscore that all parties linked to this case are considered innocent until proven guilty, emphasizing the active and continuing nature of their inquiry.

The Valparaiso Police Department is calling on anyone with information about this shooting to step forward. Tips can be directly phoned in at 219-462-2135 or anonymously texted to TIP411 (847-411) with “Valpo” in the message field and “Locust” at the beginning of the tip to indicate the case in question. The community’s cooperation is invaluable as the department works to piece together the events that led to this tragic incident.
