Chicago, IL – It’s time to spring forward! Daylight Saving Time begins on March 10, 2024, in Illinois, and residents are reminded to set their clocks ahead one hour.

This annual time adjustment, which occurs on the second Sunday in March, will officially take place at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 11. While most modern devices will update automatically, traditional clocks will need a manual change. Daylight Saving Time aims to provide an extra hour of evening daylight during the warmer months.

As clocks spring forward, fire departments also recommend using this occasion as a reminder to test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
