DeKalb, IL – The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a dense fog advisory effective until 10 AM CST today, impacting east central and northeast Illinois as well as northwest Indiana.

Visibility is reduced to one quarter mile or less in dense and freezing fog, creating hazardous driving conditions. The advisory warns that freezing fog may cause slick spots on elevated surfaces and those that have not been treated.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution, use headlights, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles. The fog is expected to dissipate by mid-morning, improving visibility and travel conditions.
