ESSEX, IL – A fatal car accident occurred late Wednesday night involving a vehicle crashing into a tree. The incident happened at the intersection of N Kankakee Rd and E Goodfarm Rd.
According to the first responders, the crash necessitated heavy extrication efforts. Braidwood and Essex Fire Departments also responded to the scene. Tragically, the driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead on arrival. The Coroner’s Office has been engaged for further investigation. The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
As a result of the accident, a portion of Kankakee Rd (19000W) was closed, and authorities have advised avoiding the area. Details about the crash, including the number of people in the car, remain under investigation.
