Binghamton, New York – The heaviest rainfall in the Mid-Atlantic is zeroing in on the New York–Pennsylvania border today, with steady rain expected to fall through the evening hours while much of the region stays relatively dry.

According to the National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, rainfall totals could reach between 0.50 and 0.75 inches across northern Pennsylvania and southern New York through late tonight. Cities including Binghamton, Elmira, and Scranton are most likely to see the steadiest rain, with pockets of locally higher amounts possible.

Farther south, conditions tell a different story. Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. are expected to see minimal rainfall, with many areas receiving less than 0.10 inches. This continues ongoing dry conditions across parts of the Mid-Atlantic where drought concerns remain.

Temperatures across the entire region will run above average through the workweek, with highs climbing into the 60s and 70s, adding to evaporation and limiting any widespread flooding threat despite the rain.

Drivers in northern Pennsylvania and southern New York should plan for wet roads and reduced visibility through tonight, especially along I-81 and I-86. Additional updates are possible if rainfall trends shift north or south later today.
