Pendleton, Oregon – Rain moves back into eastern Oregon tonight, setting up a wet and potentially slick midweek stretch that could impact early morning and overnight travel across Umatilla County.

According to the National Weather Service, rain chances climb to 60 percent late Tuesday night before peaking near 90 percent Wednesday. Snow levels are expected to fall from around 2,700 feet to near 1,500 feet after midnight Wednesday night, raising the risk for a rain-snow mix in higher elevations and along exposed roadways.

Pendleton, Hermiston, and areas along I-84 could see wet pavement and reduced visibility during periods of steady rain. Gusty winds up to 30 mph at times may make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. By early Thursday morning, spotty rain and snow could create brief slick spots on bridges and overpasses.

Tuesday offers a short break with increasing clouds and highs near 60°F before conditions deteriorate again overnight. Wednesday remains the wettest day, with steady rain and cooler highs near 51°F.

Conditions begin to improve Thursday afternoon, though scattered showers may linger. Dry and calmer weather returns by Friday, with temperatures gradually rebounding into the 60s heading into the weekend.

Drivers should prepare for changing conditions, especially late Tuesday night through early Thursday. Additional advisories may be issued as colder air moves into the region.
