Indiana – Rain is already soaking roads across northern Indiana this afternoon, and drivers are dealing with reduced visibility and gusty winds pushing vehicles along I-69 and U.S. 30.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers and thunderstorms continue through the day, with wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph and rain chances around 70 percent. Conditions may briefly improve, but additional storms are expected to redevelop later, keeping roads slick and unpredictable.

The bigger concern builds into Tuesday evening. Meteorologists are now tracking a stronger system capable of producing hail up to 2 inches in diameter and wind gusts near 60 mph. These storms could intensify quickly, especially near the Indiana–Ohio border, bringing the potential for isolated damage and power outages.

By Wednesday, widespread rain returns with coverage near 80 percent. Periods of steady rainfall could lead to ponding on roads and slower commutes across Fort Wayne, Huntington, and surrounding communities. Keep phones charged and avoid unnecessary travel during heavier downpours.

Temperatures stay mild, climbing near 80°F Tuesday before easing into the mid-70s Wednesday. That warmth fuels instability, helping storms redevelop through midweek.

Thursday continues the unsettled trend, with additional showers and thunderstorms likely. While severe risk lowers slightly, lightning and brief heavy rain remain concerns for outdoor plans.

Wednesday: High 75°F, showers likely
