Paducah, KY – Rain ramps up across western Kentucky within hours, with slick roads and reduced visibility expected by late evening as multiple rounds of showers begin a weeklong stretch of unsettled conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, rain chances climb to 50–60% tonight across much of western Kentucky, southern Illinois, and southeast Missouri, with the most impactful period arriving Wednesday night into early Thursday when probabilities peak near 65%. Forecasters note some storms during that window could turn strong, especially along the I-24 corridor and near the Ohio River.

Communities including Paducah, Murray, Mayfield, and Hopkinsville will see repeated rounds of rain, with brief downpours possible during overnight hours. In southern Illinois, Carbondale and Marion face similar timing, while Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff in Missouri could see wet roadways during both the evening and early morning commute periods. Visibility may drop under heavier showers, especially on rural highways and low-lying stretches.

Drivers should plan for slower travel, particularly before sunrise and again late Wednesday night. Keep devices charged in case of isolated outages and avoid flooded roadways if heavier rain develops.

Another round of elevated rain chances returns Saturday into Saturday night, with additional storm potential. Advisories may be updated as confidence increases through midweek.
