Morris, Illinois Crash Alert Today: Vehicle Pulled from Nettle Creek, One Person Rescued Late Saturday Night

Morris, IL – Emergency crews responded late Saturday night after a vehicle was discovered submerged in a creek in Morris, prompting a swift water rescue operation.

According to the Morris Police Department, the call came in around 11:32 p.m. Saturday for a vehicle reported in the water near Ottawa Bend Drive along the West Branch of Nettle Creek. Responding officers and fire personnel arrived to find a vehicle overturned and fully submerged behind the office area of Gebhard Woods State Park.

Authorities said Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District deployed rescue swimmers into the creek to reach the vehicle. Crews were able to locate and remove the sole occupant from inside before transporting the individual from the scene for medical care. The condition of the occupant has not yet been released.

The coordinated response involved both police and fire personnel working under challenging nighttime conditions to safely recover the individual from the water.

Officials have not released details on how the vehicle entered the creek, and the incident remains under active investigation. Additional information is expected to be made available as authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash.
