California – Wet pavement and reduced visibility are already slowing traffic across Los Angeles this afternoon as steady rain moves through East L.A., with pockets of heavier showers capable of brief thunder. Drivers along I-10 and I-710 are seeing slick conditions, and spray from tires is cutting visibility in spots. Plan extra time and keep headlights on.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, rain chances hold near 100% through the afternoon with isolated thunderstorms possible before tapering later tonight. Rainfall totals between a quarter and half inch are expected, with southwest winds around 5 to 10 mph and gusts reaching 15 mph.

Across East Los Angeles, neighborhoods from Boyle Heights to Monterey Park can expect the steadiest rain through mid-afternoon. Low-lying roads may see minor ponding, especially near freeway on-ramps. Keep devices charged and avoid flooded intersections. Conditions improve later tonight, though a brief leftover shower cannot be ruled out before skies begin to clear.

By Monday, a noticeable shift arrives. Clouds break for mostly sunny skies with highs climbing into the mid-60s. The warming trend continues into Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing dry air and sunshine with highs rising into the low 70s. It will feel more like spring across Southern California after the wet start.

Looking ahead, calmer weather dominates, and no additional storm systems are expected through midweek. Another update will follow if conditions change. Traveling today? Let us know what you’re seeing on the roads.
