Washington – A brief break in the clouds is giving Seattle a quieter afternoon, but damp air and mist are already hanging low over I-5 and downtown streets. The pavement is drying for now, but not for long. Rain is building just offshore and will move in quickly.

According to the National Weather Service, rain chances increase to 50% tonight and Monday, before surging to 100% by Tuesday. Winds shift south at 10 to 18 mph with gusts up to 26 mph during the heaviest rain. Rainfall totals between a quarter and half inch are expected during peak periods.

Across Seattle neighborhoods from Capitol Hill to West Seattle, expect scattered showers to return later today and continue into Monday. Roads will become slick again, especially during early commutes. Keep headlights on and allow extra space between vehicles.

Tuesday marks the main impact window. Rain becomes steady and widespread, soaking roadways and slowing travel across King County. Water may pool on I-5, I-90, and Highway 99, especially during heavier bursts. Conditions may deteriorate quickly during peak travel hours.

By Wednesday, showers continue with a slight chance of thunderstorms developing later in the day. Cooler air keeps highs near 50 degrees, reinforcing the damp, unsettled pattern.

Looking ahead, conditions begin to improve by Thursday with partial sunshine returning and drier օդ moving in. Until then, expect several rounds of rain and reduced visibility.
