Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Drivers across southern Wisconsin could encounter heavy rain and lightning within the next few hours, with additional storms redeveloping later today before a more dangerous round arrives Monday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee, scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue through the morning, followed by a brief lull between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Storms are expected to redevelop by mid-afternoon and persist into the evening, bringing brief downpours and reduced visibility along Interstate 94, Interstate 43, and surrounding roadways.

The more significant threat develops Monday between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m., when strong to severe storms may form near a warm front stretching across central Wisconsin. Areas along and north of Madison, including Wisconsin Dells, Fond du Lac, and Sheboygan, face the highest potential for large hail, damaging winds over 60 mph, and a few tornadoes.

Heavy rainfall will also be a concern through midweek, with multiple rounds of storms Tuesday and Wednesday increasing the risk for localized flooding and rising river levels.

Residents should stay alert for changing conditions, especially Monday night, and ensure multiple ways to receive warnings as additional watches or advisories are likely.
