Tallahassee, FL – Heat is building quickly across Florida, and with no rain in sight, drought conditions are expected to worsen through the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, high pressure will remain locked over the southeastern U.S., keeping skies mostly clear and rainfall chances near zero through at least the weekend. Afternoon highs will reach the mid-80s through midweek, then climb into the upper 80s and low 90s by Thursday and into the weekend.
Across North Florida, including Tallahassee, Panama City, and Valdosta, dry areas and constant sunshine will accelerate soil drying and stress vegetation. This raises concerns for expanding drought conditions and increased fire risk, especially during the afternoon hours when humidity drops further.
Residents are urged to limit outdoor burning, conserve water where possible, and avoid activities that could spark fires. Even small embers can spread quickly under these dry conditions.
The pattern shows little change through the weekend, with continued heat and dry weather expected. Additional advisories may be issued as drought conditions intensify.
