Green Bay, WI – Storms are expected to develop rapidly Monday evening, with the highest risk window hitting during peak travel hours and bringing the risk of large hail and damaging winds.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a Level 2 (Slight Risk) has been issued for much of central and eastern Wisconsin, with storms expected to intensify between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. Monday. Wind gusts could exceed 60 mph, and hail may reach golf ball size in the strongest cells.
The greatest impact zone includes cities south of a Rhinelander-to-Sturgeon Bay line, including Wausau, Stevens Point, Appleton, Oshkosh, and Green Bay. Roads such as I-41 and Highway 29 could see sudden downpours, reduced visibility, and ponding water during the evening commute.
Residents should secure outdoor items, park vehicles in covered areas if possible, and ensure multiple ways to receive warnings. Lightning and brief heavy rainfall may also cause localized power outages.
Storms may linger into early Tuesday morning before weakening, but additional updates and possible warnings are expected as conditions develop Monday afternoon.
