Louisville, KY – Temperatures are surging into the 80s today, creating early-summer conditions across Kentucky, but changes begin late tonight as rain and storm chances return.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, highs will reach between 81 and 86 degrees statewide Sunday, running well above seasonal averages. Dry and breezy conditions this afternoon will briefly elevate fire risk before moisture increases overnight.

Cities including Louisville, Lexington, and Bowling Green will stay dry through sunset, but showers—and possibly a few thunderstorms—begin developing after midnight, especially west of I-65. Rainfall totals are expected to remain light for most areas, generally under a quarter inch through Monday.

Drivers should watch for slick roads during the Monday morning commute, particularly on highways like I-64 and I-75 where visibility may drop in passing showers. While severe weather is not expected, brief downpours could impact travel.

The warm pattern continues through midweek, with highs staying in the 80s and additional chances for showers and storms returning by Thursday and again next weekend.
