lbany, NY – Sunshine early Sunday will give way to a quick shift in conditions by late afternoon, with rain moving into parts of eastern New York just in time for the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, clouds will steadily increase through the afternoon, with the first showers developing north and west of the Capital Region after 4 to 6 p.m. Rain becomes more widespread overnight as a warm front pushes into the state, bringing steadier precipitation through the late-night hours.

Across the state, highs will reach the upper 40s in higher terrain areas like the Adirondacks, while valleys including Albany, Schenectady, and Troy warm into the mid to upper 50s. Roads may turn slick after sunset, especially on untreated surfaces and secondary routes.

Drivers should plan for reduced visibility and allow extra travel time Sunday night. Keep devices charged and enable weather alerts in case conditions intensify overnight.

Rain lingers into early Monday before tapering, but additional updates are expected as the system tracks across the region.
