Wilmington, OH – Temperatures are climbing higher this morning, and by mid-afternoon, much of Ohio will feel more like early summer with highs pushing into the 80s and gusty winds creating fire risks.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a strong southwest flow will drive temperatures roughly 20 degrees above normal today, with widespread highs between 80 and 85 degrees. Wind gusts are expected to reach 25 to 35 mph, especially between noon and 6 p.m., when conditions will be most impactful.
Cities including Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati will see the warmest readings paired with dry air, where relative humidity may drop as low as 25 to 35 percent. This combination significantly increases the risk of fires spreading quickly, particularly in grassy or brush-covered areas.
Drivers should also prepare for occasional դժվար crosswinds on north-south routes like I-71 and I-75, especially for trucks and SUVs. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, secure loose items, and properly dispose of cigarettes.
