Fort Wayne, IN – Gusty winds and building storm chances will impact northern Indiana starting tonight, with a more organized severe weather threat developing by Tuesday afternoon and evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, wind gusts could reach 35 mph today as temperatures climb into the upper 70s to low 80s. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will begin tonight, with rain chances increasing into Monday and continuing through midweek.

The most significant threat arrives Tuesday, when a slight risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe storms covers much of northern Indiana, including Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Warsaw. Storms are most likely late afternoon into Tuesday night, with hazards including damaging winds, large hail, and locally heavy rainfall.

Key travel routes such as I-69, I-80/90, and U.S. 30 could see sudden downpours and reduced visibility during peak evening hours. While uncertainty remains on exact timing and coverage, any storms that develop could intensify quickly.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, secure outdoor items ahead of gusty winds, and prepare for rapidly changing conditions Tuesday evening.

This active pattern will continue through Wednesday, with additional storm chances and possible updates as conditions evolve.
