Georgia – Dry air and a steady breeze are quietly increasing fire danger across metro Atlanta this afternoon, even as blue skies and warm sunshine dominate. Grass, leaves, and brush can ignite quickly under these conditions, especially with winds picking up through the day.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, relative humidity could drop to 25 percent or lower for several hours, while southeast winds gust up to 20 mph. These factors combine with dry fuels to create elevated fire risk across north and central Georgia through the evening.

Residents across Atlanta, Marietta, and surrounding counties should avoid outdoor burning today. Even small sparks from grills, cigarettes, or equipment can spread quickly in dry grass. Check local burn restrictions before any outdoor activity.

Drivers along I-75, I-85, and I-285 should remain aware of potential roadside smoke if any fires develop. Visibility could drop quickly in isolated areas if winds carry smoke across lanes.

Beyond today, the pattern stays warm and dry. Highs reach 83°F Monday, then climb to 86°F Tuesday and 88°F Wednesday under mostly sunny skies. Winds remain light but consistent, and humidity stays relatively low.

By Thursday, temperatures hold near 87°F with continued sunshine. This prolonged stretch of warm, dry weather keeps fire concerns elevated, especially in areas with little recent rainfall.

Five Day Outlook for Atlanta, Georgia:
Today: Sunny, high 85°F, gusts up to 20 mph
Monday: Partly sunny, high 83°F
Tuesday: Sunny, high 86°F
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, high 88°F
Thursday: Mostly sunny, high 87°F
