Pennsylvania – Sunshine is stretching across Philadelphia this afternoon, but a rapid temperature surge is already underway that will push the region close to 90 degrees by midweek. The air feels mild now, yet a noticeable shift toward early summer warmth builds with each passing hour.

According to the National Weather Service, Philadelphia climbs from 66°F today to 81°F Monday, then jumps to 86°F Tuesday and peaks near 90°F Wednesday. A slight 20 percent chance of showers develops after 2 p.m. Monday, with southwest winds between 10 and 15 mph adding a steady breeze across open roadways.

Drivers along I-76, I-95, and the Schuylkill Expressway should stay alert Monday afternoon. Brief showers could create slick pavement and reduced visibility during the late-day commute. Plan extra time and keep headlights on in passing rain.

By Tuesday, the city takes on a summer feel. Sidewalks warm quickly, and indoor spaces may feel stuffy without cooling. Hydration becomes important, especially during peak afternoon hours.

Wednesday brings the most intense heat, nearing 90°F under mostly sunny skies. Later in the evening, clouds increase with a 30 percent chance of showers developing after sunset. Wet roads could impact late travel into the night, particularly near Center City and surrounding suburbs.

Conditions stay warm into Thursday with highs near 89°F and partial sunshine. This stretch signals a broader warming trend across the Mid-Atlantic, with above-normal temperatures expected into late week.

Five Day Outlook for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:
Today: Sunny, high 66°F
Monday: Mostly sunny, 20% chance of showers after 2 p.m., high 81°F
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, high 86°F
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, high 90°F, 30% chance of showers late
Thursday: Partly sunny, high 89°F
