Hastings, NE – Drivers across central and southern Nebraska could face sudden visibility drops this morning, followed by a sharp shift to severe storm risks by late afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, dense fog may reduce visibility early today, especially across southern counties, before clearing as temperatures climb into the upper 60s and 70s by afternoon. South winds will increase to 15 to 20 mph, with gusts reaching 30 to 35 mph.

By 4 p.m., attention turns to storm development across the region, including Grand Island, Kearney, and Hastings. While most areas stay dry, any storms that form could quickly turn severe, producing hail up to ping pong ball size and wind gusts near 60 mph through 10 p.m.

Storm coverage remains isolated, but impacts could be significant where storms develop. Areas along and south of I-80 should monitor conditions closely during the evening commute.

Skies turn quieter overnight, with only isolated activity lingering. Warmer air builds in Sunday and Monday, with highs climbing into the 80s, but additional storm chances could return early next week.
