Oregon – Light rain is already dotting windshields across Pendleton this afternoon, and darker clouds are building fast over the Blue Mountains. Roads along I-84 are turning slick, and visibility may drop quickly as showers intensify through the next few hours.
According to the National Weather Service, a 60% chance of showers will continue today, with thunderstorms possible by mid to late afternoon. Rain chances increase to 80% by Sunday, bringing steadier rainfall and totals between a tenth and a quarter inch, with locally higher amounts in heavier cells.
Across Umatilla County, including Hermiston and Milton-Freewater, drivers should expect changing conditions through the evening and into Sunday. Wet pavement and brief heavier bursts could slow travel, especially on open stretches of I-84 where winds may gust near 21 mph. Plan extra time and keep headlights on during reduced visibility.
Rain continues into Sunday night, keeping conditions damp into early Monday. A slight break arrives Monday afternoon, though scattered showers may linger. Temperatures hold in the upper 50s before dipping into the 30s at night. That cooler air may even support light snow in higher elevations by midweek, especially in the Blues.
Looking ahead, drier and slightly warmer weather returns by Tuesday and Wednesday, with more sunshine and highs nearing the upper 50s.
