Albany, New York – Sunshine is making a comeback just in time for the afternoon, but changes arrive quickly with rain expected to move in by late Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, skies will turn partly to mostly sunny today with highs ranging from the mid-50s to near 60°F in valley locations, while higher terrain stays cooler in the upper 40s to low 50s. Gusty winds will continue through the day before easing tonight.
Temperatures drop sharply after sunset, with lows falling into the upper 20s across higher elevations and into the low to mid-30s in cities like Albany, Schenectady, and Troy. Clear skies and lighter winds will allow for a chilly overnight period.
Sunday starts dry with increasing clouds through the morning, but rain chances begin to develop during the afternoon hours. Showers could impact travel along I-87, I-90, and Route 7, especially later in the day as coverage increases.
Residents should take advantage of the dry weather today, then prepare for cooler overnight temperatures and a shift toward unsettled conditions by Sunday afternoon. Additional updates are expected as rain timing becomes more precise.
