Burlington, Vermont – Gusty winds and lingering morning showers are making for a chilly start today, with temperatures struggling to climb out of the 40s across much of Vermont.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, a few scattered showers may linger through the morning hours before drier air moves in this afternoon. Skies will gradually turn partly sunny, but northwest winds between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, will keep conditions feeling cooler than the actual temperature.

Highs will range from the upper 40s to low 50s, including in Burlington, Montpelier, and St. Albans. Along Lake Champlain, gusty winds could create choppy conditions and impact travel on exposed roadways like U.S. Route 7 and Interstate 89.

While conditions improve later in the day, the persistent wind may still cause minor travel issues for high-profile vehicles and outdoor activities.

Residents should dress in layers, secure loose outdoor items, and use caution on area lakes and roads. Dry weather is expected to continue into the afternoon, with calmer conditions likely heading into tonight.
