Caribou, Maine – Another round of rain moves in overnight Sunday, with wet roads and reduced visibility expected before sunrise Monday across much of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, a widespread rain event will develop Sunday night and continue through Monday night, bringing between 0.2 and 0.5 inches of rainfall for most locations. Northern areas, including Fort Kent and Clayton Lake, could see locally higher totals approaching 0.8 inches, especially where steadier bands set up.

Lingering rain and snow showers will continue across northern Maine through Saturday evening, particularly around Presque Isle and Caribou, before conditions briefly improve Sunday daytime. Roads across Route 1 and I-95 in Aroostook County may remain slick at times, especially during early morning and overnight hours.

Farther south, including Bangor, Augusta, and the Downeast coast, steadier rain arrives after midnight Sunday, increasing the risk of ponding on roads during the Monday morning commute.

A noticeable warm-up follows, with highs climbing into the 50s north and 60s south by Tuesday and Wednesday. Some areas near Bangor and the interior Downeast region have over a 90% chance of exceeding 60 degrees by Tuesday afternoon.

Residents should prepare for wet travel late Sunday into Monday and stay alert for updated advisories as rainfall timing and totals may shift.
