Dayton, OH – A Dayton man has been sentenced to more than 10 years in federal prison after authorities say he was involved in a drug trafficking operation that allegedly shipped large quantities of narcotics through the mail.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriffโ€™s Office, the sentencing took place Tuesday in U.S. District Court, where 47-year-old Kuron Evans was ordered to serve 130 months in prison for his alleged role in a conspiracy involving more than two kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine.

Court records allege that in January 2024, Evans arranged for a package to be mailed from Las Vegas to Trotwood, Ohio, using the United States Postal Service. Investigators say the shipment allegedly contained roughly one kilogram each of cocaine and methamphetamine. Authorities further allege Evans repeatedly used fictitious names for both the sender and recipient in an effort to avoid detection.

Law enforcement officials reportedly intercepted the package before delivery and launched an investigation that led to arrests the following month. Evans and his nephew, Dorian Evans, both 47, were allegedly taken into custody in Trotwood in February 2024.

Dorian Evans was previously sentenced in March to 60 months in prison for his alleged involvement in the case.

The investigation was conducted by the Montgomery County Regional Agencies Narcotics & Gun Enforcement Task Force in coordination with the United States Postal Inspection Service. Officials say the case underscores ongoing efforts to identify and disrupt drug trafficking networks operating through interstate shipping methods.

Evansโ€™ sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Thomas M. Rose.
