Fitchburg, WI – Police in Fitchburg are investigating a series of vandalism cases and a reported shots fired incident that unfolded across the city’s west side, prompting a public call for assistance.

According to the Fitchburg Police Department, the incidents occurred between Wednesday and Thursday, with multiple reports of graffiti discovered Thursday morning in neighborhoods including Lacy Heights and Seminole Forest. Officials said spray-painted markings were found along a bike path, residential fences, mailboxes and street signs, particularly in areas between Lacy Road and Schumann Drive, as well as Endive Drive and Persimmon Drive.

Authorities are asking residents to review any available surveillance or doorbell camera footage recorded between Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Thursday at 8:30 a.m., noting that even seemingly unrelated activity could aid investigators.

Later Thursday night around 10:15 p.m., officers responded to Quarry Vista Park after receiving multiple 911 calls from residents who reported hearing gunshots. When officers arrived, they located numerous spent shell casings in the park and along a nearby bike path. The area is situated directly behind several homes, raising concerns among residents.

Police said no injuries were reported in connection to the gunfire, though the proximity to residential properties remains a concern as the investigation continues.

Officials have not confirmed whether the graffiti and shooting incidents are connected. Both cases remain active and are being investigated separately.
