Louisville, Kentucky – Warm and dry conditions will give way to scattered showers and a few thunderstorms by the evening commute, with the greatest impact expected after 5 p.m. across northern Kentucky and southern Indiana.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, a cold front drifting south will bring increasing rain chances late this afternoon into the evening hours. Rain coverage will range from 35 to 50 percent, with the highest chances focused north of the Ohio River, including southern Indiana and northern portions of Kentucky.
The Louisville metro, along with Jeffersonville, New Albany, and areas along I-65 and I-71, could see showers develop during peak travel time. While widespread severe weather is not expected, a few thunderstorms may produce brief downpours and gusty winds.
Temperatures will remain warm ahead of the front, with highs reaching the mid to upper 70s before clouds and rain increase later in the day. Dry conditions may deteriorate quickly where heavier showers develop, especially during the evening drive.
Rain chances will decrease later tonight as the front continues south, with drier conditions returning into Saturday. Additional updates may be issued if storm coverage increases.
