Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Rain will move into western Pennsylvania by the late afternoon commute, with steady showers and isolated thunderstorms creating slick roads and slower travel into the night.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a cold front crossing the region will bring increasing rain chances starting around 4 p.m., with coverage peaking between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Rainfall totals will vary, with around 0.15 inches expected in parts of West Virginia and up to 0.40 inches north of I-80.

The Pittsburgh metro, along with areas like Washington and Greensburg, will see rain develop through the evening, while heavier and more consistent rainfall is expected farther north toward DuBois and Clarion. Drivers along I-79, I-76, and I-80 should prepare for wet pavement and reduced visibility during peak travel hours.

There is also a 15 to 25 percent chance of thunderstorms forming along the front. While severe weather is not expected, any storm could produce brief downpours and gusty winds.

Rain will taper off after midnight as the front exits, with drier conditions returning into early Saturday. Additional updates may be issued if thunderstorms become more widespread.
