Michigan – A cold breeze off Lake Superior cuts through the afternoon air, but a bigger shift is already building as rain and storms line up for the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures reach only the low 40s today with gusts up to 30 mph, while a much wetter pattern develops heading into Saturday night and Sunday.
For now, skies stay mostly sunny to partly cloudy, but it feels brisk. Layers are still needed, especially near the shoreline and open areas where wind chills dip into the upper 20s earlier in the day.
Friday keeps things quiet with highs near 41°F and lighter winds. It’s a brief window before conditions shift again.
By Saturday, sunshine returns with a high near 49°F, but clouds quickly increase later in the day. Rain chances surge Saturday night, with up to a 90% chance of showers developing after dark. Roads along US-41 and M-28 may become slick, especially during heavier bursts.
Sunday brings the most impactful stretch. Showers and possible thunderstorms develop by afternoon, with temperatures climbing to 57°F. Expect steady rain, gusty winds, and reduced visibility for drivers across Marquette, Harvey, and surrounding communities.
Meteorologists are now tracking continued unsettled weather into early next week. Additional showers linger Monday, with temperatures rising into the mid-50s before cooling again. There’s even a signal for rain mixing with snow by Tuesday night as colder air returns.
Plan ahead for changing conditions. Keep rain gear ready and watch for slick roads, especially after sunset when temperatures drop.
