Iowa–Illinois – Water creeps higher along riverbanks this afternoon, and soaked ground across the Quad Cities is setting the stage for renewed flooding concerns as more rain moves in.

According to the National Weather Service, multiple rivers including the Wapsipinicon and Cedar are already in flood stage, with additional rainfall expected to worsen conditions into the weekend. The Wapsipinicon River near DeWitt is projected to crest near 12.1 feet, keeping nearby communities on alert.

Across Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, and Moline, scattered showers continue through the afternoon, with storm chances increasing into the evening. Rainfall totals between a half inch and three-quarters of an inch are possible, especially by early Friday. Wet pavement and ponding could slow drivers along I-74, I-80, and U.S. 61.

Conditions briefly improve Friday with cooler air and highs near 59°F, but rivers will continue responding to earlier rainfall. Even as skies clear, water levels may still rise. Avoid walking near riverbanks and never drive through flooded roads.

The pattern stays active into the weekend. Showers redevelop Saturday with a 30% chance, then increase Sunday with storms likely and rain chances climbing to 60%. Breezy winds and repeated rainfall could extend minor flooding concerns.

Looking ahead, Monday brings stronger storm potential with thunderstorms possible after midday. While severe weather risk remains uncertain, forecasters are monitoring instability building across the region.

Temperatures climb into the 70s by Sunday and near 80°F early next week, signaling a shift toward warmer spring air, but with continued storm chances.

Stay alert for changing water levels and road conditions, especially near low-lying areas and rivers.
