Detroit, Michigan – Wet roads and reduced visibility could impact the Friday morning commute as a stronger round of rain moves into Southeast Michigan overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, light showers may develop Thursday with highs reaching between 61 and 70 degrees. Conditions worsen late Thursday night into early Friday as a more widespread and steady rain system pushes across the region.
Forecasters say most areas across Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, and Port Huron can expect around a half inch of rainfall, with localized totals nearing 1 inch possible by Friday. The highest rain chances will occur during the early morning hours, increasing the risk for ponding on roads, especially along I-75, I-94, and I-96.
Drivers should allow extra travel time Friday morning and watch for slick conditions during heavier bursts of rain.
Conditions improve by Saturday with dry weather and seasonable temperatures in the upper 40s to mid-50s. Another warmup follows into Sunday, with highs climbing into the 60s and 70s alongside a chance for additional showers.
More updates and potential advisories may be issued as the system approaches.
