Newfane, New York – A violent rollover crash left a 13-year-old among the injured Wednesday evening after a pickup truck blew through a stop sign and flipped multiple times in Niagara County.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 6:16 p.m. to the intersection of Day Road and Wheeler Road. Investigators say a 2018 Dodge Ram traveling north failed to stop and collided with a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox, causing the pickup to roll over several times.
Two passengers in the truck were ejected, including a 13-year-old child. Authorities said none of the occupants in the pickup were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Both ejected passengers suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox also sustained serious injuries.
Deputies identified the pickup driver as Jonpaul Oliver, 50, of Franklinton, North Carolina. Investigators determined he was under the influence of drugs and charged him with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law involving a child passenger, and endangering the welfare of a child.
All injured parties were taken to local hospitals. The crash remains under investigation.
